The district of Aveiro is located low the 100 m of altitude occupying a coast planicie that has around 40 km large in the south part of the district.
The landscape is dominated by the Ria de Aveiro and for the rivers of the bacia hidrográfica do Vouga.
The relevo becomes more acidity while we cross up the Serras of Caramulo and of Arada, estendendo-se even to the Serra do Montemurro.
In its north frontier the district contacts with Rio Douro and some of its effluents.
The littoral is sandy in a typical landscape of lagoon area with a dune cordão of changeable espessura separating the smooth waters of the Ria de Aveiro of the sea.
