Dunes

The dunes are a meeting zone between the continent and the ocean.
The development of activities, the intensification of recreation uses and the incautious occupation of this territory have been leading to situations of unbalance and coast erosion, leading to the destruction of the ecosystem of the seaside dunes.
Besides being their lungs of the coast side, the dunes make one of the ecologic and landscape treasures of the region where’s inserted.

One example of this richness is the “Reserva Natural das Dunas de S.Jacinto” holding a seaside dune system that as about 90 hectares on the state of unbalance mostly unique in the country.
