Capitania de Aveiro

The building of the “Capitania do porto de Aveiro ou dos Arcos”, being property of the “Câmara Municipal de Aveiro”, has a long history.
Inicialy built as a “ moinho de maré”, served in 1830 as a suport to the “fábrica de Porcelanas de josé Ferreira Pinto Basto”, founder of the “Fábrica da vista alegre”.
Later in 1903, Francisco Augusto da Silva Rocha remodled the building again to install the “Escola do desenho industrial”.Later after a huge rearrange,in the 25th of april of 2004 it was finaly inaugurated and it will receive the “Assembleia Municipal de Aveiro” and a room of expousers.
